Upside Down 3 // Blessed are the Meek
Last Week
- Blessed are those who mourn – only God can bring wholeness from our brokenness
- You are called to be a conduit of comfort – to receive so you can give
Matthew 5:5 (NIV) | Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
3 Thoughts on Meekness
- Meek ≠ Weak
- Keep a Posture of Love
- Praeis is Greek for rooted in humility
Humility isn’t thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less. ~ C.S. Lewis
Inherit the earth?
- You can be saved right now
- The Kingdom of God is accessible to you.
Matthew 5:5 (MSG) | You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.
Meekness is found in a confident contentment that you are an amazingly created child of God.
1 Corinthians 10:12 (MSG) | Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence.
- A loss of confidence = discouragement
- More Jesus > Less Me
- John 3:30 (ESV) | He must increase…I must decrease.
