Shine! // John 8:12
Light is probably the most predominant metaphor for the presence and activity of Jesus in the world. From creation when the Creator said, “Let there be light” to today’s verse when Jesus identified Himself as the light, the promise was made that we will never walk in darkness when we walk with Him. That’s not to say we won’t encounter any darkness in the world — there’s plenty of that — but we will always have the light of life with us. That’s a beautiful promise to behold. Jesus does give us a responsibility to go along with this light, which is to share it with the world Matthew 5:16 tells us to “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Jesus shares His perpetual light with us so we may shine it into the darkness we encounter.
