Let Your Light Shine

Matthew 5:16

One of the Christmas presents my mom gave me is a lighted workout cap to wear on my early morning and late evening jaunts through the neighborhood. The weather was finally cold and dry enough, and it was early enough, for me to put it to use. I donned the cap and struck out for my predawn walk. I snapped this selfie to send to mom, letting her know I was using it proudly, as Jesus’ words echoed through my mind: “let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16, ESV). I kept thinking of that image as I left for the day. How do our lives radiate Jesus love in the things we say and do? Life can’t merely be about drawing attention to ourselves, so how do we shine our light to point people to Jesus and make God known? I hope this gives you something to contemplate today. Let’s get out there and shine brightly, because when we do, people will be able to see that God is real, God loves us, and has a purpose for our lives. Shine on, friends!
