Good Friday // John 15:13

Today is Good Friday, the day Jesus was tortured, crucified, died, and buried. Many ask what’s so good about a day like today. The answer is in the why as well as the what next. Jesus died to free you from the consequences of sin, to fulfill God’s wrath, and pave the way for your eternal life. Jesus lived out the words He uttered as recorded in John 15:13 that no one has any greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. This is precisely what Jesus did for you and me. But please don’t miss one of the operative words here, that He called us friends. Consider these words of Jesus from John 15:15, “Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.” We are Jesus’ friends…the very ones He laid down His life to save. That makes it a pretty good day, wouldn’t you say?
