God’s Rest // Hebrews 4:10
Today’s verse speaks to the rest God longs to offer His people. The so-called “catch” is that we find it once we’ve given ourselves over to God’s purpose for our lives. This isn’t necessarily the rest we’ll find at the end of our natural lives when we go to paradise, but the rest we discover when we embrace God’s will for us. The same concept of rest is seen in Genesis after God completed creation. That was by no means the end of God’s efforts, but the beginning of a whole new reality for everything! This reminds me of the brilliant Mark Twin quote, “The two most important days of your life are the day you were born and the day you find out why.” This does not mean that life in God’s rest will be free difficulties, but it does mean we can find peace in the midst of them to help us carry on when we otherwise feel like letting go. So, in order to find God’s rest, seek the “why” God has for your life.
