God in the Flesh // John 1:14

I had an interesting conversation the other day that is common among those searching for answers, hope, and meaning. We were talking about church and the need to get (and stay!) connected with God and others who are also seeking truth. The person confessed he struggles with organized religion because so much of it is man made. Have you ever wrestled with that thought? This time, I felt as though the Lord gave me some insight with an immediate reply, where I answered, “That might be true, but God cares so much about the things of man that He actually became one to show us the way to Heaven.” Jesus is that way, which He later identified Himself in John 14:6. I’m quite sure there are things we do as mortals in the church that turn the Lord’s tummy, but when we acknowledge we are seeking His heart and home in heaven, I believe He blesses those efforts with the essential mercy and grace. So, if you find yourself struggling with the human side of church, know you are not alone. Still, seek the hope and help that is available to you because God took on flesh in Jesus to show us there is more to this life!
