Connecting Wisdom // Proverbs 13:20

There is a Spanish proverb that says, “Show me your friends and I will show you your future.” This is at the heart of today’s verse from Proverbs 13:20, “Spend time with the wise and you will become wise.” The truth revolves around how easily influenced we are by the people we allow to speak into our lives. If we spend time with the wise, then we will develop wisdom. It’s important to remember the wisdom — GOD. Consider Proverbs 2:6, “All wisdom comes from the Lord, and so do common sense and understanding” (CEV). This gives us a great idea about how, where, and with whom we can gain wisdom. It comes from spending time with God AND spending time with others who spend time with God. If we spend our time wisely, we grow wiser ourselves, coming to know God and the ways of the Lord. I hope this helps you determine how to spend some of your precious time today. Spend it with God as well as those who spend time with God. Let the Spirit connect us all with the eternal divine, changing our lives and allowing God to use our changed lives to help Him change the world!
