Change Your Password Day // Psalm 100:4
Psalm 100:4 (MSG) | Enter with the password: “Thank you!” Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.
Today is National Change Your Password Day. I once was one of those who used the same password for everything until the miracle of modern technology came in and helped create, then store, those long passwords so I don’t have to remember them. Still, I am alarmed how frequently I get notified my data have been compromised and need to keep changing passwords; otherwise, I end up with cloned Facebook pages and all kinds of other junk I don’t want to deal with.
Junk. That stuff can be so aggravating, can’t it? People pretending to be someone they aren’t. Perpetual cynicism. Ongoing frustration. Maybe we need to change our passwords for another cause…to get closer to the Lord.
Psalm 100:4 in The Message gives us that idea that gratitude and worship is the password into God’s presence. If you find yourself burdened with the junk of life, changing your password from some unintelligible series of shapes and sounds into a simple, “Thank You!”, can do wonders to draw you closer to the awesomeness of our Almighty God.
So, on this National Change Your Password Day, do a little due diligence to make sure your identity — both online, spiritually, and physically — is safe. But before that, start with a little gratitude, praise, and worship. That’s how you’ll find yourself in God’s presence, enabling you to deal with whatever else life throws your way today.
