Are You Available? // 1 Samuel 3:10

Today’s verse is one I used very early on in my ministry for a sermon. It reminded me of a story when we were at Zaxby’s for a meal with my then-toddler nephew. One of the crew members announced an order number when my nephew stood up in his chair and loudly said, “It’s me, I’m here, I’m listening!” It is one of those stories I’ll never forget, because it speaks to the whimsical innocence of a child as well as well as a deep Biblical truth: God is speaking, but are we listening? God’s messages can be thought of like an always-on radio station…it’s broadcasting, but you must be tuned-in to hear it. We tune in via prayer, Bible reading, worship, service, and other Christian conversation. We must make ourselves available, but also know what it is the Lord wants from us. So, will you make yourself available to the Lord? Will you make sure you tune in so you can receive what God transmits? I pray so, because the message you relay might be the very one someone needs that can save a life. So be it; amen!
