“You’ve Got a Friend in Me” // John 15:13

Let’s take a quick look at one of Jesus’ most powerful statements as we prepare for worship on this first Sunday of June: “There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Jesus spoke these words to His disciples just before telling them that He now refers to them as friends as opposed to servants. Friends, this is exactly what Christ did for you and me. He laid down His life for us as a friend would do in order to protect us from a fate from which we’d never recover. The reality is Jesus preferred to the horror of crucifixion to the horrible thought of an eternity without you. So, as we get ready for this Lord’s Day, let’s celebrate the love of Jesus that calls us His friend and empowered Him to lay down His life so we might live. Jesus essentially said, “You’ve got a friend in me,” and He is waiting to see you. Will you pay Him a visit today?
