You are Heard // John 5:14
Do you feel as though God hears you? There are times I feel heard and times I wonder if God is there. He always is, though. One thing to remember is that teachers tend to be quietest while giving tests, but does that mean God is always testing us? Well, I have a thought on that that takes the idea of a test out of the academic purview. One afternoon I was hanging out with Mia and she decided she was not going to use her words. She started grunting and pointing and refused to communicate with me any other way. I responded by telling her to use her words a couple times before she realized she wasn’t getting anywhere with me in her regressed communication. Once she used her words correctly, I sprung into action and helped with whatever it was. I think as we grow, God works similarly. Initially He is there and super responsive to reassure us. As we learn and grow, God expects us to progress accordingly, and there will be times He essentially says, “use your words,” when we try to regress. That does NOT mean God isn’t listening, or doesn’t hear us; no, not at all! What it means is we are expected to grow in our faith and get deeper into the Lord’s will. This speaks to Jesus’ statement as our verse for the day when He said, “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.” God’s responses might differ based on the situation and what’s best for us — He knows, after all — but you can rest assured of this fact, you are heard.
