Who IS this King of Glory? // Psalm 24:10

King David closed out Psalm 24 with the rhetorical question, “Who is this King of Glory?” His perspective was a unique one since he spent a lot of time in the field during his youth as a shepherd boy, meaning he knew about the majesty of the sun, moon, and starts. David was also a mighty warrior, unparalleled in his battle prowess and leadership. His success, in addition to the purity of his heart (though not perfect by any means), led him to be named king. David knew God and submitted to the Lord’s sovereignty over creation, strength in battle, and benevolence in ruling. This is the lineage by which Jesus entered the scene. Jesus came some 1,000 years after King David, but when He arrived, He became the righteous answer to the rhetorical question: Jesus is the King of Glory! May we do as King David wrote earlier in Psalm 24 and lift up our heads, as well as our gates, to welcome Jesus into our lives…our inner and outer world. In so doing, we lift up Jesus to show the world the King of Glory is here, illuminating our spiritual darkness, saving our souls, and bringing the power of hope to all. May our worship today in God’s house lift the name of Jesus and share His love with the world!
