What Prevails When Your Plans Meet God’s Purpose? // Proverbs 19:21
You make plans. God has a purpose. When there is a struggle against the two, the Bible tells us it is God’s purpose that prevails. Does this negate free will? I don’t think so. God has some wonderful and mysterious ways to get us to live into the purpose for which we were created. Sometimes we fight it or flee from it, then come back to it. Other times it needs to develop, to marinate, or breathe. Discovering and discerning one’s purpose is rarely instantaneous; it takes time, trial, and error. Most of that is because none of our experiences are ever wasted, even if we come to through defeat or fatigue. I think about King David’s Psalm 139, or Elijah in the cave, and how God used those times to remind them that there is nowhere they can go where God is absent, and there are always people God brings alongside us to help when we fear we’re all alone. Ultimately, God wants you to learn your purpose so the plans you make are consistent with His design for your life. Then, you will see what awesomeness is in store for you and your world!
