We’re on a Mission from God // Luke 19:10

My dad loved the movie, “The Blues Brothers.” Dan Aykroyd’s character’s catch phrase from that film still sticks with me: “We’re on a mission from God.” It’s true beyond the comedy. Jesus issued His mission statement as recorded in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” He invites us into that same mission as we see in the Great Commission, “And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age‘” (Matthew 28:18-20, ESV). We each have a special role to play as part of God’s special forces. God gifted you with special skills and interests through which you can connect with others. Allow what makes you unique to establish a connection with others so you can lead them to the Lord and invite them with you on this journey. After all, we’re on a mission from God, following the very same who came to seek and save you and me.
