We Are Yours // Romans 14:8

There is a thread that runs through the tapestry of Scripture that challenges our allegiances. We see from the very beginning in Genesis that God created us for the purpose of relationship…both with Him and others. Sin broke that relationship and ever since, we have placed ourselves at the center of reality as opposed to the Lord. As a result, the things we think we own actually own us.

The Apostle Paul wrote that none of us live or die for ourselves alone. We were bought with a price, so as today’s verse teaches, “whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” Paul went on to write in verse 9, “For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.” Regardless of whichever side of the veil we live, we do live and are called to live for the Lord. To do so, though, we must keep God in the forefront and allow everything else to fall into its proper place.

What can you do today to ensure your priorities are set? May I suggest starting in prayer? Remind yourself and commit (or commit again) to the Lord that “we are Yous.” Do those things and live for God whatever the day brings.
