Walk in the Light // Isaiah 9:2
Today’s verse comes from one of the awesome prophecies pointing to the birth of Jesus. We read these words that might be familiar to you later in Isiaih 9, “For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen” (v.6-7)! I love how we read that its the passionate commitment of God to make it happen. The approach of Christmas is a perfect time for each of us to reflect upon that passionate commitment of God to make a way for our salvation. May we also make a passionate commitment to walk in the light of Jesus now that we know He came for you and me. For as we read in 1 John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin” (NIV).
