Turn to God // 2 Chronicles 7:14
Well, Election Day is complete. I am writing and posting this in advance, so I have no idea who won, presuming the results are even available. I wanted to do it that way so my writing isn’t influenced by excitement or disappointment. Regardless of who won the election, the problems we have in our culture will not be solved; in fact, I fear our divisions will be more pronounced, at least in the near term. We need Jesus, to set everything right, but we have a role to play, too. This is why our verse for today from 2 Chronicles 7:14 is so profound, “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (NKJV). So, on this day after the election, let’s not put our hope in a politician, but the King of kings! We do this by humbly praying, seeking God, and turning away from our bent toward sinning. THIS is what will heal our land, beginning within our hearts and flowing to our relationships.
