To Guard and Guide // Proverbs 13:6

Evil is real. Evil is not some nebulous thing. Evil is the work of God’s enemy, the devil, who seeks to sow seeds of doubt, deception, discord, discontent, distraction, and division. The Bible tells us that Satan is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8). As fierce and tricky as Satan is, he is not more powerful than God. The Bible juxtaposes the prowling of the devil with the power of the Lord. Check out Revelation 5:5 and how it depicts Jesus, comparing and contrasting Him to the evil one: “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered.” If you are familiar with The Lion King movie, think about the difference between the characters of Simba and Scar. That’s a pretty effective image for how the two kinds of lions differ in their battle for rock of salvation.

Don’t let the evil one mislead you and draw you into sin. When he does, he uses the tactic of trying to convince you that you’re too far gone to be saved or too despicable to be loved. Balderdash! Trust God and His salvation to guide and guard your life’s journey. Let that assurance keep you in the light so you may radiate Jesus love wherever you go!
