To Blurt and Spurt

Luke 6:45

Think of a word that shoots out of your mouth when you’re in pain or under stress. What did you say last time you stubbed your toe or broke something meaningful? I bet it wasn’t something you thought through…it was probably just an impulsive outburst, right? Today’s verse gives us a word of caution as Jesus said that the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart. Are you convicted? I know I am. God wants you to be aware of the condition of your heart that causes words to spurt like blood from a wounded vein. Work to fill your heart and soul with God’s Word, God’s Truth, and God’s hope; that way when an outburst flies, you are spurting the lifeblood of faith to any and all who hear.
