To Be Delivered // Psalm 34:19
Today’s verse speaks to a reality many use to try and discredit people of faith. Shoot, even people who strive to live in faith can struggle, too. We want to think that our faith should inoculate us against troubles. That isn’t it at all! Jesus told us we will have troubles, but He overcame our trouble-causing world. This is heavy, but it’s honest. So, don’t forget the second part of this verse. God delivers the faithful from them all. Now, I think a caveat might be in order here. Our deliverance might very well be on the other side of eternity. Bad things can, do, and will happen in this fallen world, but remember this world is not your home. Psalm 50:15 has God saying to the faithful, “call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.” God might very well deliver you to more peaceful times here on earth, but His ultimate goal is to deliver you into heaven for eternity. So, don’t lose perspective and certainly don’t lose hope. God will deliver you from them all either in this world or the next.
