To ALL People // Galatians 6:10
Today’s verse is intended to teach balance in the way churches, and individuals within the church, function in care and connection for others. Yes, Jesus’ Great Commission is to go into the world to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel. But the crux of today’s verse is how we are not to do this at the expense of helping to care for those within the church, too. Think of it like an alignment in your car. One must hold the steering wheel off-center to keep going straight if it is out of alignment. This creates uneven wear of the tires and can cause other issues, too. The guidance of Scripture is for churches to create repeating cycles of building disciples to go into the world and share the Good News. Then, we are to come back with new converts to fill, refill, or renew, and to do it again. This is all about multiplying our numbers and deepening our faith so more and more people can be reached with each cycle. Jesus used this model for the disciples and asks us to follow it as well. So, when we prioritize all people, beginning with the household of faith we are working to make disciples, multiply our efforts, and maintain a holy unity with all people. May this be a major part of our mission as we prepare for worship today. Hopefully we will connect with old friends, make new ones, and find us all deployed to proclaim the Good News of God in a lost and lonely world.
