The Strength and Hope Connection // Psalm 31:24
I love today’s verse and what it means for us all who place our hope in God. Some people think hope is a bad thing, because it is tinged with doubt. That, my friends, is not Christian hope! Hope in the Lord tells us that God’s way wins in the end because of the faith that keeps us going in the here-and-now. King David, who wrote Psalm 31, encouraged everyone — regardless of circumstances — to be strong, take heart, and hope in God. The idea that this extends beyond our circumstances is critically important because the things where we frequently place our hope can let us down. God won’t though. That isn’t to say you won’t face troubles which might cause you to wonder or worry, but the Lord addressed that, too. Check out Romans 5:4-6, “And when we remain strong, we show that we trust God. When we trust God like that, it causes us to hope for God’s help. 5 And when we hope like that, it will not disappoint us. That is because we know that God loves us very much. God has given his Holy Spirit to be with us. The Holy Spirit causes us to know God’s love very well” (EASY). I love this strength and hope connection even when I don’t love the circumstances that forge them in my life. So, whatever you’re facing, be strong, take heart, and hope in the Lord.
