The Singing Warrior // Zephaniah 3:17

Today’s verse is one that always gets me, but I want to look at it in its fuller context: “The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” We see two sides of God that seem like contradictions. On one hand, the Lord is a mighty warrior. On the other, He is a singing celebrator. Those celebrations also help soothe the soul after the ferocity of the fight. Isn’t it wonderful to know the Lord fights for us? That God delights is us? Sure, He might correct us to go His way, but He also celebrates and soothes us after the fight. Isn’t that a beautiful image? What will you do with it today?
