The Shield of Faith // Psalm 28:7
I hope you find some joy in today’s verse. The imagery we receive is of someone under some form of attack. An attack can leave anyone feeling vulnerable, insecure, weak. But when we have Jesus in our lives, He strengthens us, protects us, and encourages us not to give up. We see how Jesus said in John 16:33 that, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (NIV). Taking heart can help us think about standing strong in faith that God is real and did indeed overcome this trouble-causing world. That faith works, as the Apostle Paul indicated, like a shield that protects us against the flaming arrows of the evil one (Ephesians 6:16). So, take heart…stand strong in faith…trust Jesus to be your shield to help you face whatever comes. May that bring your heart joy so you may find the peace to praise the Lord in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
