The Maestro’s Masterpiece // Ephesians 2:10

Do you ever think of yourself as a masterpiece? There definitely was a time in my life when I did, but the compounding lows of life dinged my once seemingly unshakable self-esteem. And such is life. We see all kinds of things in pop culture that tell us we are perfect just as we are. That’s a sweet sentiment, but it’s off a bit. We all have problems in our lives where we find our once perceived priceless masterpieces fade, tarnish, and/or otherwise deteriorate. Does that mean we’re worthless? NO! Quite the contrary, in fact. The truth is we are the Lord’s masterpiece, just not in the way we often times want to think. God takes us in His holy hands to mold and shape us when accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. This is the context of today’s verse from Ephesians 2 where the Apostle Paul wrote that we were dead in our sins before accepting Jesus, but in Christ, we are God’s masterpiece. His hands are the ones that make glorious music out of the chaos of our lives. Think about it like a fine violin in the hands of a master violinist. I might be able to make a sound or two, but ultimately it wouldn’t be much more than noise. In the hands of a virtuosos, however, the noise becomes music that can transport a person into a completely different mental, emotional, or spiritual place. That’s what the Lord does for you and me. God is the grand maestro and longs to make a grand opus of your life. Sure, there might be some dissonance in places, but God’s resolution will change your life and use you to help change the world! Will you place your life in His hands and let Him work the wonders He longs to do? If so, you will be amazed at how God will work you into His most excellent harmonies!
