The Lord’s Prayer // Matthew 6:9-13
Today’s passage comes from Matthew’s account of Jesus giving the Lord’s Prayer. I think it’s important to note that Jesus didn’t necessarily intend for us to pray this specific prayer by memory, though there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Jesus gave a model for praying that we can use in our everyday prayers in addition to using the Lord’s Prayer. That model is to (1) take note of God’s name, because God’s name teaches us about God’s nature; (2) stay aware of God’s Kingdom, including everything seen and unseen; and (3) commit to God’s will by living for God in all ways and all days. What kind of prayer might you write using this model?
