God’s Flow of Life & Love // John 7:38

John 7:38 (NIV) | “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘rivers of living water will flow from within them.'”

The Bible offers two basic ideas of water: standing water and flowing water. Flowing water was often referred to as living water because of what happened to water as it stood, growing stagnant. Life works much the same way for us. We can receive all kinds of benefits, but if we don’t allow them to flow through us to benefit others, then we miss out on one of the greatest mysteries of faith. If we try to hoard all of life’s blessings, we will never feel satisfied. If, on the other hand, we allow our lives to be conduits for blessing, we will never feel slighted. This is a mystery for the world apart from God as it feels like giving should deplete our resources. It doesn’t. God set the laws of nature and His eternal economy in such a way where the more we give, the more we realize we are able to live into God’s blessed flow. So, as you get ready to worship on this Lord’s Day, allow God’s blessings to flow from Him, into and through you. This is God’s way to prevent you from experience lack by calling you to live into the flow of His eternal love.
