The Courage-Patience Connection // Psalm 27:14

This scripture graphic really grabbed me. There have been many times I feel like the fellow walking thru a dark tunnel with a torch not knowing how long it will last. The light at the end of the tunnel isn’t visible and there’s no telling if the light being carried will hold out to the end.

Today’s verse helps us connect the necessity of patience and courage. The key is found in the confidence of the One who goes with you — our Lord. The Bible gives so many examples of God calling His people to courage; here is one such example from Joshua 1:9, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” So what about the light? Need we fear the darkness? Jesus answered that in John 8:12 as He said, “Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

So there you have it. Walk courageously with God. Let His presence give you the required patience to know whatever you must go through, you never go through it alone. And when He is with you, you’ll never be in darkness, because Jesus IS the Light of the World. Let the courage-patience connection power you through whatever you face, because you face it with God.
