Super Strength // 2 Corinthians 12:10
Do you like spinach? I do. I come from the generation that learned how to eat spinach to get strong like the cartoon character, Popeye. If you recall, Popeye the Sailor Man had a foil named Bluto, who always seemed to get the better of him until he gulped down a can of spinach. Then, Popeye developed super strength to save the day for Olive Oil. The good news is we don’t need spinach to get super strength like a fictional hero, because there is a hero of the faith who has strength to spare. 2 Corinthians 12:10 inspires us by saying, “ That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.“ Jesus wants to infuse you with His power that overwhelms your weaknesses, soothes the insults, soften your hardships, resolves persecution, and eases your difficulties. That’s the kind of super strength that meets and beats the villain of our story who is far more nefarious than big ol’ Bluto.
