Share Joy // Romans 14:17
Today is National Share Joy Day! We sure need some joy with all the junk in the world, don’t we? We must be mindful, however, that joy and happiness aren’t the same. Happiness tends to be dictated by events, whereas joy runs much deeper.
Our verse for this National Share Joy Day comes from a section where the Apostle Paul was working with people coming to the Christian faith from very different backgrounds. He was specifically dealing with how people might approach food sacrificed to idols. He wasn’t so concerned with dietary restrictions, which is where we pickup at Romans 14:17. The message he conveyed is God’s Kingdom is so much greater than the little things we worry about in life; in fact, it all comes down to how God is putting us together for Jesus in spite of our backgrounds! When the Lord puts us right with Him, He completes us with His joy. Jesus spoke a couple times as recorded in John’s Gospel about how love is what completes one’s joy. And since love is God’s very nature, we can rest assured in Christ’s love/joy connection.
You will not run across anyone today God does not love. May that fill you with joy so you can share that with the world. We need it, friends. So, let’s get after it, shall we?
