Search and Know // Psalm 139:23
I love today’s verse, and it comes from one of my favorite Psalms! King David discussed God’s eternal knowledge of him, his regular movements through life, the vastness of God’s presence, as well as God’s patience and power over His enemies. We get this beautiful sense that David is impossibly attempting to contemplate the Lord, and then we happen upon today’s verse: “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” (v.23-24). I think that is a bold, but beautiful request since we all must acknowledge there is plenty in us that offends God. The merciful grace appears when we realize that God loves us in spite of ourselves, and longs to save us as we grow to be more like Jesus. Will you allow Him to lead you there? It might take a lifetime, but it is totally worth it!
