Salvation Belongs to God // Revelation 7:9-10
Revelation 7:9-10 (NIV) | After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
Today’s verse is a fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation, to include all people and not just those of Jewish descent. The Apostle Paul didn’t indicate that the Jews were banished as God’s Chosen People; rather, he wrote that everyone else who professes faith in Christ is grafted onto the branch formed from Jesus as the new shoot of Jesse to bear brand new fruit (Romans 11:11-24 & Isaiah 11:1)!
I want you to take note of what is stated in the last sentence, how Rev.7:10 says salvation belongs to God. Salvation is God’s gift to you that comes from the forgiveness of sins. Jesus’ death on the cross paid the penalty for your sin-debt. He had His arms outstretched wide offering you forgiveness and new life thanks to His resurrection. You are infused with God’s resurrection power when you accept it so you can live a new life for Him.
I want to close with Ephesians 2:4-10 as a way to share Scriptural reinforcement about how salvation belongs to God but is extended as a gift to you and me. May we read, give thanks, and praise the Lord for this wonderful gift of love!
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
