Restored

1 Peter 5:10 (NLT) | In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

Today’s verse is a great follow-up to yesterday’s writing for MLK Day and not allowing pernicious pessimism to keep you from moving forward for the Lord. I referenced how Jesus used Peter’s failings to elevate him as leader of the Church, not in spite of his failings, but because of them! All of this is solely due to Christ’s kindness, but it feeds God’s purpose and invites you in to participate.

We are all going to face struggles in life. Peter, writing from personal experience, promised that there is hope beyond suffering. Jesus’ plan is to restore you, support you, and strengthen you (or maybe more accurately to help you see how you grew stronger because of what you endured) as you are placed on a firm foundation. That foundation is none other than Jesus Christ our Lord Himself! Consider what we read in 1 Corinthians 3:11, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ” (NLT).

Stand firm on Jesus, your foundation, today. Let that firm footing give you the stability you need to stand strong, supporting you no matter what comes your way. Believe me, you can make it because you have been restored by Jesus and deployed to share His kindness everywhere you go and in all you say and do. So let’s do it…let’s go!
