Restore // Psalm 51:12

Today’s verse comes from a David Psalm after his tragic decisions surrounding Uriah and Bathsheba. He sinned and his sins cost greatly. This Psalm helps point to the divisions we feel in our soul when we knew the right thing yet choose to do the wrong thing. David prayed to God to restore the joy of his salvation. This is something I think we can all relate to. There are times we know that the temptations we face are wrong, but they seem so enticing at the moment we feel it’s the best course of action. It isn’t. The sin breaks God’s heart and works to sever our relationship. And for what? A few fleeting thrilling moments? Still, when we realize that salvation is still available despite our messes, misses, and mistakes, it should restore a lasting joy that supersedes anything else we might crave in this world. So, if you find yourself wayward and lost today due to your decisions, knows that it is never too late to turn back the Lord. Allow Him to reveal to you the beauty of living for Him and a joy that dwarfs anything you else you might feel that looms larger. Jesus longs to redeem you from your sins and restore you for living in Him!
