Resist the Irresistible // James 4:7

Yesterday we looked at some of the things we need to turn away from, or repent. A reality we must face is those things can remain temptations, which provide fertile ground for Satan’s attacks. As today’s verse tells us, we need to resist the devil for him to flee. He might come back around, but you have tremendous power in Jesus…far greater power than the devil. So, if you find an inertia pulling you back to the things you turned away from, resist the devil. Find something to do that is incompatible with your temptation. Things like Bible reading, prayer, singing spiritual songs can be great tools. Call a supportive friend. Exercise. Do something so you can’t succumb and invite the Lord into that battle. Jesus power will help you resist the things the devil wants you find irresistible.
