In-Sync Living // Psalm 119:7

Today’s verse is important. Let’s break it down, shall we? God’s righteous regulation is love. Jesus told us the greatest commandment is to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbor as we love self (Mark 12:30-31). We see in Galatians 6:2 that we fulfill Jesus’ teaching by helping others bear their burdens. We find that we are saved in God’s gracious mercy and must be thankful. That gratitude spurs us on to love others in response. That’s how we put God’s love into action. But we also must align our lives with God’s teaching. This brings us to the notion of holiness. Holiness means to be set apart for God’s purpose while we serve others. You’ve probably heard that we are to be in the world but not of the world. That is the essence of holiness — it doesn’t mean we are to act with self-righteousness or condescension, but humility and service as we engage our world with the love of God. That, my friends, is what it means to live as you should. So, in review, acknowledge God’s love for you and accept His offer of a saving relationship in Jesus. Give thanks for that gift of salvation and decide to live differently in response. Make sure your belief and behavior is in sync and live accordingly.
