On Gratitude // Psalm 100:4
It’s almost time…Thanksgiving is a quintessential American holiday, but rooted in Biblical significance. Our nation’s founding is steeped in God’s provision, and for that, we must be thankful. But what does that mean? Simply, to show yourself as grateful. God did and does everything for you. He doesn’t want anything from you except for your recognition and gratitude. This became real for me a few weeks ago after cooking and cleaning up after dinner. Ethan came up to me and thanked me for a wonderful meal. As his dad, I feel it is my responsibility to provide for him.I would do it regardless if he thanked me. But since he is growing up and is coming to acknowledge what it takes to provide, his recognition and gratitude means all the more to me. I think God must feel much the same way. He produces and provides for us without expecting anything in return. After all, what can we give God? All God wants is our gratitude and thankfulness. This helps us become more aware of His gifts and recognize how good God truly is. So, let’s make sure we present ourself as grateful for who God is and what He’s done for us. Let’s prepare to enter His house with thanksgiving and praise!
