God’s Details // Proverbs 1:7

Proverbs 1:7 (NIV) | The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I used to have an Albert Einstein picture hanging in my office with the quote, “I want to know the thoughts of God. Everything else is just details.” Now, Einstein struggled to believe in a personal God, but he knew enough to know that there had to be something behind all the magnificence he devoted his life to study. The reality is that God is real and cares deeply about humanity. This is precisely why He sent us Jesus to show us that the heartbeat of heaven beats for God’s children and to save us from our separating sin. We can draw near to God in faith and learn things that would even blow Einstein’s mind! Consider Hebrews 11:6, “No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him” (GNT). James 4:8 also says it like this: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded” (ESV). Don’t doubt. Confess your sin. Devote your life to working for God’s goodness. He will draw near to you as you draw near to Him. Let God bless you and blow you away with His wisdom and instruction! After all, as Einstein so eloquently stated, everything else is just details.
