Power! // Romans 1:16

A friend of mine in seminary shared a powerful insight about our verse for today. The word power comes from the Gree, dynamis, which is the root from which our word, dynamite, originated. Dynamite provides a chemical change, completely transforming something. Of course, dynamite is used for demolition, but in many cases, in order to remove an obstacle so something new can emerge. This, my friends, is precisely what the Gospel does for us. It radically transforms us, removing the obstacle of sin, so our new life can emerge. Jesus talked about the necessity of being born again (John 3:3). Paul also wrote about how we become a brand new creation when we give our life to Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is the power of the Gospel, and one I pray you allow God to perform in you.
