Peace in Justification // Romans 5:1

What disturbs your peace? As we read in today’s verse contextually, we would agree that our present difficulties are near the top of the list. The Apostle Paul wants us to know that our sin contributes to those problems, but we are not disqualified in Christ. This is the essence of being justified; in other words, made right with God through Jesus. Therefore, since we are made right with God, our problems (even those that hurt us) need not cause us to fear judgement. There is grace, mercy, and forgiveness in Jesus to steady us in the face of our difficulties and remind us that our hope isn’t supposed to be in the lack or troubles in this world, but our secured location in the world to come. So, if you find your peace disrupted today, trust in Jesus and find the peace to face the future unafraid.
