Past is Prologue // Romans 15:4
The broader context in today’s passage deals with a discrepancy in position between people. Some are weak, some are strong. Some are bold, some are timid. Some are confident, some are questioning. Regardless, the Apostle Paul encouraged his readers to look to the scripture, realize that past is prologue, and embrace the promise that God is in control. All of this comes to a point in verse 7 where everyone is encouraged to deal with others as Christ dealt with you. We all must remember that compared to Jesus, we are all weak, timid, wandering, and wondering. So may the Scriptures point us to Jesus as the hope and fulfillment of God’s precious promises, despite what we experience right now.
