Overcomer // John 16:33

I recall when this verse became real to me. I was dealing with some issues that intersected my life in profound personal and professional ways. I felt troubled when the Lord reminded me of the truth that we will have trouble in this world, but we need not worry because Jesus overcame the trouble-causing world. That might not cause the adrenaline to dissipate, or heart rate to calm in the moment, but it can provide perspective that this world will end and the time will come when Jesus will deliver His followers to the place that knows “no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (Revelation 21:4). Jesus overcame our trouble-causing world and promises to make all those who follow Him overcomers as well. So, hang on, my friend. Find the pace that only Jesus can give. Find the hope that this too shall pass, knowing the time will come when you’ll overcome this trouble-causing world, too.
