Our Limitless Lord // Isaiah 40:28
I want to share the portion of today’s verse from the infographic in its broader context. Check it out…
Why do you complain, Jacob? Why do you say, Israel, “My way is hidden from the Lord; my cause is disregarded by my God”? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:27-31, NIV
Much of Isaiah 40 deals with how temporal we are as humans. We are limited in our knowledge, energy, strength, and everything else for that matter. Isaiah’s message brings a word of comfort to the people that God is not limited like humans are. God is everlasting, with no beginning or end. God is everywhere, never failing to fill the world with glory. God is all powerful, never growing tired or weak. God is all knowing, never being caught off guard. This is precisely why Isaiah then, and I today, proclaim the presence and power of our Lord. We need Him, and it seems now more than ever. Will you turn to the limitless Lord, even with your limited capabilities? I pray so, because He brings comfort, power, wisdom, and stamina to endure. Trust Him, will you?
