On Value // Mark 8:35

One of my mom’s favorite sayings is, a candle loses nothing by sharing it’s light. I think that is a neat way to help approach today’s verse. If we resort to stinginess and try to hold on to something, we often lose its true value. You see, value isn’t what we can get out of a thing, but what we put into it! Jesus taught about living life in much the same way. We will never fully understand the beauty of life, and the power of our place in God’s Kingdom, until we are able to put Jesus first and let Him dictate our steps. So, look for ways today and every day to use your life in such a way where you are pointing people to the Lord! It might seem weird that giving something away is the best way to gain more, but that is precisely the way God intended it.
