On The Golden Rule // Matthew 7:12
You probably recognize today’s verse as the Golden Rule. It’s fascinating to me that this teaching actually originated in ancient Jewish teaching. It was essentially known by, “Don’t do to someone what you would not want done to you.” Sense the difference? Jesus put a positive spin when He issued the Golden Rule, but he also used it to encourage His followers to activate their faith-filled behavior. We aren’t just talking about avoiding some people, places, or things — passively or otherwise — but to look for ways to serve, show kindness, and put love into action. Christianity is an active faith, so let’s go do something for Jesus today. How ‘bout it? Let’s gooooooo!
