On Sowing and Reaping // Hosea 10:12

One of nature’s immutable laws is that of sowing and reaping, meaning you harvest what you plant. You cannot plant a tomato seed and then expect an apple; regardless how similar they might appear at first glance. Today’s verse tells us that when we sow righteousness, the fruit we reap is unfailing love. Sure, there are times we might not harvest exactly what we expect in terms of quantity, but with the Lord, the quality is always there. We also get a unique promise that comes first with an acknowledgement: when environmental factors make it difficult to plant or nurture, we are to always trust God. This points to another undeniable truth that we have a role to play in preparing the ground and planting the seeds, but only God can make things grow (1 Corinthians 3:7). So, pay close attention to God’s call in your life and the task He wants you to complete. Prepare yourself and plant the seeds God gives you, then trust Him to bring the results according to His plan and purpose.
