New Strength // Psalm 23:3
Yesterday we explored how God wants to use us to help comfort others when they go down discomfort road. Today’s verse is a perfect follow-up, because it comes directly from Psalm 23, which I referenced repeatedly in yesterday’s writing. We read how God promised through King David to renew his strength. Looking at the recurring themes of the week it’s easy to see how exhausting life can be when we try to live solely under our own power. God’s passion is to lead you in the paths of righteousness so you can experience what life is like when you live for Him versus living for self. It’s simple, but not easy. That inertia to go under our own power is strong and it typically leads to trouble, beginning with burnout. Syncing up with the Spirit enables and empowers us to live for the Lord in ways that defy imagination, let alone logic. One of the main points of the 23rd Psalm is how differently life goes when we go with God. God helps us find rest, nourishment, belonging, and blessing. So, if you need some new strength today, do a self-assessment and see where you have tried too much and too long to go under your own power. Then, stop, take a breath, receive the correction of God so you can follow His direction. That new strength won’t just be a temporary sense of renewal, but a whole new source of power only available to those who trust God to lead, guide, and direct as the Good Shepherd He is.
