Never Stop Praying // 1 Thessalonians 5:17
We must read today’s single verse in context with verses 16-18, “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” The Apostle Paul is pointing to a worldview that will help anyone while dealing with the craziness of life. We can be joyful because we know how the story ends, even if our current chapter might read like a tragedy. This should lead us to pray continually, celebrating our victories, and turning our anxieties into requests. Then, no matter whatever we face, we can — and SHOULD — be grateful, knowing Jesus is at work. If our current condition is happy, give thanks for the rest. If it is tragic, give thanks in knowing that God is helping to deepen your faith and make you more like Jesus. So never stop praying as you go through that process as you remain joyful and grateful for the fact that God is with you in the good times and the bad.
