National Puzzle Day // Ephesians 1:22

Happy National Puzzle Day! This is a day to consider how doing puzzles — whether they are jigsaw puzzles, word puzzles, crossword puzzles, number puzzles, etc. — can help improve brain function. Puzzles are fascinating because they help us to consider different ways to view a problem and find a solution. Yesterday we looked at spiritual warfare and how we are to armor up with God’s tools. Today, I want us to view this similarly to a puzzle, because all the awful things we see around us can cause us to wonder where God is in the midst of it all. Know what I mean? As today’s verse from Ephesians 1:22 tells us, all things are under the authority of Christ! This isn’t just all good things, pretty things, happy things, etc., but all things! There is nothing you will encounter or face today that is outside of God’s purview or power. So why do bad things happen, and especially to good people? This is a question almost as old as time itself. 2 Peter 3:9 tells us that God wants everyone to be saved. Hebrews 13:14 reminds us this world is not our home and we are to seek God’s eternal kingdom. Revelation 21:2-3 show us that in the end God will send His new kingdom to earth and we will all live together with Him for eternity. The time will come when we will see the final picture the completed puzzle reveals. Until then, we must trust the goodness of God — yes, even amidst the glimpses of hell that currently plague us — and believe that our Conquering Christ is in charge and doing everything for the ultimate benefit of His family. So, place your faith there and don’t quit. Ever!
