National Pothole Day // John 16:33

I hate potholes, and it seems they are multiplying like crazy! I had a blowout one night on my way to youth group because I hit a pothole and ended up missing the event altogether. National Pothole Day may seem like a quirky observance, but it can serve as a powerful reminder of life’s unexpected “potholes”…those moments when we hit bumps in the road, face setbacks, and/or experience frustration. Just as potholes can appear out of nowhere on a smooth drive, challenges and obstacles can pop up unexpectedly in our lives. Yet, as Jesus promised in John 16:33, life will not always be a smooth ride, but He offers peace through the struggles. While potholes may shake us up, they don’t define the entire journey. The key is not to avoid difficulties but to trust that God is with us, guiding us, and giving us the strength to keep going. When we face “potholes” in life, we can remember that God is not surprised by them. He’s already prepared us to navigate them with His peace. And, just as roads are repaired, God is always at work to restore and strengthen us through the bumps and cracks of life.
